Mark Bowden is a Chartered member of the Institution of Structural Engineers, enabling him to adopt the letters CEng and MIStructE.  The Intuition of Structural Engineers is globally respected. The Institution and its members actively seek to achieve safety and quality and ensure support to other engineers. The title CEng is protected by civil law and indicates registration with the Engineering Council (uk).

FEANI is a federation of professional engineers that unites national engineering associations from 31 European countries. Registration with FEANI is a guarantee of competence for professional engineers and ensures that qualifications are verified and transferable to different regions. Members are entitled to use the EUR ING title and are listed in the FEANI Register which is  a database maintained by the Secretariat General in Brussels.

The Construction Skills Certificate Scheme was set up in the UK with the aim of improving safety and quality on construction sites. It signifies that carriers are aware of health and safety procedures and are competent to access construction areas.
